Below are many projects I have worked on in the Web and multimedia industry. NDAs permitting, I intend to use some of my experiences in Information Architecture classes I am teaching at Cabrillo College and UCSC Extension. If you're also interested, please review my theater work.

  • Contract Information Architect.
  • Designed user flow and site architecture for new Admissions site.
  • Produced wire frames.

James Burke's Knowledge Web Online Learning Tool - Fall 2001 - July 2003
  • Volunteer Information Architect.
  • Designing user flow and UI for the Knowledge Web, UI Team leader.
  • Producing site flow and wire frames with co-designer, Cathy Gellis.
  • Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, spread around the world (and of course James Burke himself).

American Wireless Transaction Application - May to August 2002
  • Contract Information Architect.
  • Designed user flow and UI for AW's internal commission processing system, conducted user interviews.
  • Produced site flow and key wire frames pages throughout a 100+ page application.
  • Worked closely with client decision-maker, engineers, and design & HTML producer to complete the project.

  • Information Architect for Imagesmith.
  • Refined and revised the "HP Preferred" Business Store Web experience.
  • Worked closely with design staff and client to produce a successful revision to the dilapidated HP Preferred site.

Usability Analyst
ZoneLabs' Integrity Corporate Security Tool - April 2001
  • Information Architect for Imagesmith.
  • An Imagesmith visual designer developed the UI for this tool, and ZL internal staff developed the user flow for this Web-based corporate security tool.
  • Conducted a heuristic evaluation of the user flow.
  • Focusing on major flow issues, I produced a report within one week.
  • Presented report to ZL executives and development team members.

ZoneLabs' ZoneAlarm & ZoneAlarm Pro - Jan to May 2001
  • Information Architect for Imagesmith.
  • Member of team of IAs and a visual designer. Lead IA was Deb Voisin.
  • Developed new UI structure, user experience and collaborated on design elements for ZL's security/firewall software programs.
  • Worked extremely closely with product management team at ZoneLabs.
  • This product has an installed user base of over 9 million, and is consistently one of the internet's top downloads, according to ZDNet and CNET.

  • Architecture and Usability consultant to design a UI based on HP's revised design standards.
  • Worked closely with HP team to resolve long-standing problems with the configurator interface.

  • Architecture and Usability consultant for Small Business Group division.
  • Worked closely with eHI team throughout, including product development staff and internal engineering staff.
  • Presented Usability Audit to key management staff to highlight major usability and architectural issues.
  • Conducted paper prototype user testing and presented results to client for resolution and refinement of recommendations.

  • Completely rebuilt the Product Advisor for Printing and Digital Imaging.
  • Partnered with large engineering firm, Selectica.
  • Developed site architecture with contract IA, Tom Vincze.
  • Worked closely with both HP and Selectica teams throughout eight-month project.
  • Included prototyping in HTML as well as user testing of our designs.

  • Entertainment & Film Industry Web Portal.
  • Included Wesley Snipe's official web site.
  • Included development of world-famous House DJ, DJSneak.
  • Highly aggressive timeline, working with broad spectrum of individuals, including client Art Director, contracted design firm and partnered back-end engineering firm Talaria, now part of Wirestone.

  • Provided design, development and technical solutions resources during an extremely high-demand period at Infoseek and Go.com.

Teaching Alive! - June 1996 to June 1998
  • Associate Producer and design team member for Educational CD-ROM, through CREDE & CCTD.
  • Incorporated textual content and repurposing media for the CD; working in Photoshop, mTropolis, MovieTrax (time coding software).
  • Contractor Management, Budget Tracking.
  • Testing and QA of entire product over multiple platforms.
  • Marketing and promotion of the product post development.

  • Project Manager, Architect and Designer for Earthquakes Online Exhibit on the HyperTech, The Tech Museum of Innovation's online museum.
  • Managed content specialists while working within a 10-week class schedule.
  • Member of the Advanced Web Design class, taught by Marti Atkinson.
